It all started on a stage...

A pageant stage. Yep...you read that right. Blaine and Kiley met in their early teenage years, while competing for a state-wide pageant. Despite competing against each other, they were fast friends, and have been cheering each other on ever since.

GET TO KNOW BLAINE IN 10 QUESTIONS

1. What motivates you to work hard?
I have had a lot of different health problems since I was a teenager, I feel like those hardships lead me to being so passionate about health and wanting that for those I love and for the people in this world. I don’t want to waste this gift that I have been given. I have known for so long that helping people be healthy is what God put me on this earth to do, and it drives me to find a way to make that into a reality.
2. What is your favorite stress reliever?
This one is easy for me. I have always used long distance running to deal with stress! After you run 10-20 miles you are too tired to even care about your problems anymore. It also helps that I usually do these runs with my sister and she has been my personal therapist for years. We talk the whole time! haha
3. When did you know you wanted to “Be your own boss”?
I am the oldest of 4 children and I think that makes you a boss from birth? I have always been naturally someone who takes charge of situations. When I was in high school it was even apparent on my sports teams. I think my dad has been secretly afraid that I would get fired from every job I have ever had because i’m a little rebellious and don’t like to be told what to do. All through college I knew I wanted to have a business that helped people be healthy, and the details of that vision have evolved over time, but the “being my own boss” part has always stayed the same. I feel like my best self when I am in charge of my future.
4. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Mean people. It always makes me upset when people are mean for no reason. Just be nice and compliment people and smile at people you don’t know. How hard is that?
5. If you could only shop at one clothing store for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I have talked about this way too many times in my life with one of my sisters. I can never choose between Anthropologie and BCBG Maxazria...I think my style is a mix between those. This shouldn’t be that hard of a question.
6. If you could have a superpower, which one would you choose and why?
Superspeed. DUH. I love the flash. I also envision myself winning olympic races and having to strategize so that people won’t know I am a superhero.
7. If you could go to any concert, who would you choose (dead or alive)?
I love the Pentatonix. I have been following them for years and would love to go to a concert. I know that isn’t a very cool answer, but oh well...
8. What was your first job?
I was a lifeguard and taught swim lessons! I really liked my job. I had the early bird shift and had to be at work at 5:15AM. I got to watch over all of the water aerobics classes and made all kinds of friends who were at least 4 times my age!
9. What is your favorite quote?
Only those who will risk going too far, will possibly find out how far they can go. -T.S. Elliot
10. What is your favorite meal/thing to cook in the kitchen?
My husband and I cook ALL the time! It is kind of our thing. One of our favorite recipes is called Pizza Bake. It uses spaghetti squash to make a healthy version of pizza! What could be better?

GET TO KNOW KILEY IN 10 QUESTIONS

1. What motivates you to work hard?
My future self! I want to be able to enjoy my life, my family, my friends, and my future children as much as possible, without being restricted and tied down to a 9-5 job. And of course, I also want to provide for them by doing something I absolutely love, and makes others happy, too. Win-Win-Win!
2. What is your favorite stress reliever?
I love to #treatmyself when I’m stressed: at-home mani and pedi, face mask, a glass of wine or a craft beer, and a little binge of my favorite laugh-out-loud TV show! When I feel good from the inside out, I am better equipped to tackle the stressful stuff like a boss.
3. When did you know you wanted to “Be your own boss”?
I’m pretty sure I was BORN this way, but I didn’t acknowledge it until mid-way through college. One day, I finally put the pieces together: all of the things I don't like about having a 9-5 job are all the things I wouldn’t have to deal with if I worked for myself/created my own career. It's not the hard work and long hours I mind; it's the feeling of my day-to-day life being dependent on someone else's schedule.
4. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Perpetual lateness, and/or a general disregard for others. It’s probably because I am always, always hyper-aware of how others are feeling, and how I’m affecting their mood or their day.
5. If you could only shop at one clothing store for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Without a doubt, ThredUp. It’s my favorite online store for buying clothes, shoes, and accessories. And, it’s all high-end, like-new quality. #secondhandfirst
6. If you could have a superpower, which one would you choose and why?
I would be able to teleport, and take a plus one. How amazing would it be to see any country or visit anyone at any time, fo’ absolutely free?!
7. If you could go to any concert, who would you choose (dead or alive)?
Hands down, Hem. They are my all-time favorite band. When I lived in NYC, my brother was in contact with them about having a special, private concert for me but it never worked out. I still hold out hope for one day!
8. What was your first job?
A hostess at a local restaurant. It was the best of times and the worst of times (I wasn’t very good at it, and I’m sure I made so many mistakes...I cringe about it now).
9. What is your favorite quote?
As a lettering artist, I’m continually searching for new quotes, so it changes often….but for now: May your choices reflect your hopes and not your fears.
10. What is your favorite meal/thing to cook in the kitchen? Brussel sprouts! I have always loved them, but my husband wasn’t so much a fan...I consider it a challenge to show him all the various ways I can transform them, and now he’s obsessed! He’s the first to suggest them for dinner.
